A New Chapter for Notes From Nicolas
Introducing The Sunday Journal – a new Sunday morning publication beginning this August.
Hello my friends,
It’s hard to believe that Notes From Nicolas has now been going for a whole year.
When I first pressed publish, I wasn’t entirely sure what it would become. I simply knew I wanted somewhere quieter than social media. A place where I could write properly, tell stories, explore ideas and share the things that make life feel a little more beautiful.
Over the past year, this little corner of the internet has grown into something I genuinely treasure. Every Friday, I look forward to sitting down and writing to you. It has become one of my favourite parts of my work.
From the very beginning, some of you chose to take out a paid subscription, even though there was nothing additional to receive. You simply wanted to support my writing, and for that I will always be incredibly grateful. Your kindness has given me the confidence to keep investing time in something I care so deeply about, and I honestly don’t think this publication would be where it is today without you.
As Notes From Nicolas has grown, I’ve begun to understand what I want it to become.
The Friday essays will remain exactly as they are. I love writing them, and they’ll always be the heart of this publication. They are where I explore an idea, tell a story, or reflect on something that’s been quietly sitting in my mind.
But over the past year, I’ve realised there are so many moments that never quite fit into those essays.
The beautiful hotel I stumbled across.
The lunch that turned into an unforgettable afternoon.
A conversation that stayed with me.
A wonderful new fragrance.
The flowers on my kitchen table.
The book I couldn’t put down.
The little discoveries and everyday moments that make life feel rich, but somehow never find their place in a Friday essay.
So, from the beginning of August, I’d love to invite you a little further into my world. After a year of writing every Friday, it finally feels like the right time. Every Sunday morning, I’d like to leave something quietly waiting in your inbox.
Those with a paid subscription will receive The Sunday Journal.
It won’t be a traditional diary, nor will it simply be a list of everything I’ve done that week.
Instead, it will be a beautifully written account of the week that’s just passed. A collection of stories, observations, photographs and moments I’d love to share with you. The places I’ve visited, the things I’ve been enjoying, what I’ve been reading, the restaurants I’ve loved, the beautiful details I’ve noticed, the conversations that have stayed with me and the little moments that would otherwise be lost.
If the Friday essays are where I share my thoughts, The Sunday Journal will be where I share my life.
I hope it feels like one of those wonderful Sunday newspapers people have always looked forward to. Something to read slowly with a coffee while the house is still quiet.
It will be a little more personal. A little more relaxed. A little more intimate.
There will be stories that never make it onto YouTube, moments that disappear far too quickly on Instagram, behind-the-scenes glimpses of projects I’m working on, beautiful places I’ve discovered, books I’m enjoying, little luxuries I’ve found, and the ordinary moments that so often become the ones we remember most.
More than anything, I hope The Sunday Journal becomes a gentle part of your Sundays. Something you look forward to each week..a quiet moment to slow down and catch up together.
The first few pages are already taking shape, and I have a feeling this is going to become one of my favourite things I’ve ever created.
I’ll see you in August.
With my very best wishes,
Nicolas x
